Alisa Golden has always been one of my favorite teachers when it comes to book arts. She explains the steps very clearly, shows you lots of variations on a theme, and liberally scatters pictures of beautiful examples of handmade books, both her own and others'. Her current book,
Making Handmade Books
, was originally published as two separate books in 1998 and 2001:
Creating Handmade Books
and
Unique Handmade Books
. If you have these volumes, you might want to pass on this one, although it's got some beautiful new artwork in it and quotes by many new book artists.
I am extremely thankful to
Lark Publications for sending me an extra copy of this fabulous book so that I can offer it to you all as a giveaway. You're gonna love it! There are over 100 bindings and other book techniques covered, starting with the simplest folded books (like the mock-ups I showed you on Monday), and moving through the most complicated of the sewn forms. Alisa also covers envelopes, boxes, and slipcases which will help to put the finishing touches on your projects. And as I said before, there are glorious examples of books that will at the same time stun you but also make you feel that anything is possible.
***FREE STUFF ALERT***
If you would like to win a copy of Alisa Golden's new book, leave me a comment below and you'll automatically be entered to win. If you tweet or post on Facebook or other social spots about the contest, you can leave a second comment and be entered twice! Please make sure that the link you leave here leads to an active email address...if I can't reach you, you can't be the winner!
