Non-traditional training?

I've been following a post on one of my favorite blogs with a great deal of interest. The provocative "Does College Matter" was posted on July 14, and for a week afterward the comments kept pouring in. I found all of the discussions particularly interesting since my daughter is headed off for college this fall ~ to an art department ~ and my son will be finishing his associates degree and trying to decide whether to go further, or to go really further. Like back to Guatemala and forget about the rest of college.
