Choose life, peace, and hope

I've been heavy-hearted for many days now. We had a senselss stupid killing in our small town on Saturday, after a wonderful peaceful day of celebration at the town park and the annual fireworks display. It seems incredibly stupid to say this, but these things just don't happen in Ayer. I've had a hard time not dwelling on it, because it has caused such an uproar in town ~ as it should, really. I haven't been able to do much art, and my husband suggested to me that I really needed to make something by way of a memorial to Kelly Proctor, the young man who died. I'm going to try to do that this afternoon.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life
