This image is based (really loosely) upon a photo of a particle stream passing through a bubble chamber of liquid hydrogen at CERN.   The chamber is filled with liquid hydrogen, which helps to detect the weakly ionized particles.  Whatever that means, it makes pretty cool designs, huh?  :-)
