Question of the month: What would be your dream vacation this summer?

Even though I mostly just like to stay home, my all-time favorite place that we've ever gone is Italy, and I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

How about you?  What would be your dream vacation if money and time were no obstacle?  Do you have any pictures you'd like to share from a favorite destination?

Italy is a dream trip for me. I love all the art there, though I hate (hate, hate, did I say hate?) to fly so I don't ever see myself making the trip.

Funny you should mention a summer trip b/c I'm going on a very short cruise to the Bahamas this summer & it's the first trip I've made anywhere outside Florida in probably 10 years at least.

I'm actually quite phobic about flying myself, Tammy. All I can say is that once I've been talked onto a plane, it's better to make it a long trip and make it worth the effort ;-)

I am also a lover of Italy. I would love to rent a villa there for a month with a congenial group of friends, and just soak it up.

I flew once upon a time, with the RAF as a loadmaster and went round the world to some simply amazing, off the tourist path places.
( Midway Island for instance where primary coloured budgies flew around like sparrows do here in the Uk..and Gooney birds landed in a cartoon like, base-over-apex manner! So fuuny to watch but in the sky, they fly elegantly and effortlessly) ......BUT
..... if I had the choice, Id want to go back to see Kathmandu - because at every turn there was something stunning and of interest to photograph, and high above Nepal were these statuesquely magnificent diamond hewed mountains, that reflected the suns rays and were all manner of colours at all times of the day.
The streets were visually fascinating, the people were so friendly yet they had so little compared to what we surround ourselves with. The tiny shops were a feast of inspiration and there was the enigmatic 'Kumari Princess', hidden away behind fretwork shutters, only able to peer out at the city that reveers her status, yet denies her the freedom of a woman. Hers was a truly Royal and feted position but ultimately a lonely one.
I had a point and shoot camera in those days and had pictures developed in Hong Kong, where I was stationed for afew weeks at a time, flying back and forth between Nepal and HKG.
Whatever developer they used has begun to fade away and its now symbolic to me that, that part of my youth and life, is also passing out of memory.
In those days I was interestyed in textiles, so to go back now would be sheer joy!
Well you asked! lol

Cyndi I felt the answer so deeply Ive put an 'add on' my own blog about your question (liniecat.blogspot.com) but realise Id misplelled one or two things lol
I WASNT interested in textiles back then but now would be thrilled to see what was handmade by the Tibetan refugees and the Nepalese folks.
Also I didnt make it plain, the photos I took back then are fading and yellowing, just like in the film Back to the Future, where Martys picture is fading away lol

That's great! I don't find anything "maudlin" about your post...I love hearing about other people's experiences, which is why I ask these questions in the first place ;-)
